Docuvision

There is almost nothing I love more than sitting back and being totally blown away by a film. Even more so when the film is a real life account of something incredible.

Through the power of the internet two documentaries have come to my attention recently that I have to watch. They both look amazing but I am growing impatient and need to watch them.

The first one is called Sharkwater

Synopsis.

For filmmaker Rob Stewart, exploring sharks began as an underwater adventure. What it turned into was a beautiful and dangerous life journey into the balance of life on earth.

Driven by passion fed from a lifelong fascination with sharks, Stewart debunks historical stereotypes and media depictions of sharks as bloodthirsty, man-eating monsters and reveals the reality of sharks as pillars in the evolution of the seas.

Filmed in visually stunning, high definition video, Sharkwater takes you into the most shark rich waters of the world, exposing the exploitation and corruption surrounding the world’s shark populations in the marine reserves of Cocos Island, Costa Rica and the Galapagos Islands, Ecuador.

The Second one is called Man On Wire

Synopsis.

On August 7th 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between New York’s twin towers, then the world’s tallest buildings. After nearly an hour dancing on the wire, he was arrested, taken for psychological evaluation, and brought to jail before he was finally released. James Marsh’s documentary brings Petit’s extraordinary adventure to life through the testimony of Philippe himself, and some of the co-conspirators who helped him create the unique and magnificent spectacle that became known as “the artistic crime of the century.”

Watched this a few weeks ago on the BBC. Really powerful stuff!

There is another shark documentary I’m trying to remember too, I will let you know if I do!

Man on Wire does look awesome though, I bet there aren’t any cinemas showing it in Hull though?

Just watching the first 10 minutes now. Will watch the rest of it when I get the internet connected up at home. Hopefully tonight but I doubt Karoo will be that on the ball.

Hull has literally zero culture so defo won’t be showing it. Gay.
